1996 993 C2 premium stereo system overhaul

Along these lines... I want to replace the OEM DIN radio and 6 cd changer currently in my 1996 993 C2, but am reticent to hand it over to a shop that will do poor work in terms of removal of the door panels/speakers and rear deck speakers. This 993 has the separate small tweeters above the larger door speakers (maybe they all have them..?) and the two rear deck speakers. I suspect that the paper cones are bad as they're almost 20 years old now and the interior coating of the heating ducts has already shed and blown out of the air vents - so speakers must be hurting too...

Has anyone out there had experience in removing the doors/speakers/grills and rear deck speakers - as well as the original in-dash radio and replacing them with new audio equipment with all the new bells and whistles? And if so, could you please recommend best systems/speakers and necessary tools and instructional bulletins/manuals to accomplish all this? I could buy a harness that plugs into the 6 cd changer and into the back of the existing radio, but at this point it may be best to buy a high quality new system to replace all that (Blaupunkt, Alpine, JVC, Harmon Kardon, Sony, etc...) Unless it is a bear, I would rather take the time to do it myself rather than hand it over to the dudes at Best Buy...
Thanks

Nakamichi head unit and Focal Speakers fit nicely. It is not a big deal to take the door panel off and the new radio should slide right in if it is a DIN mounting.
You'll have to remove your crossover and use the Focal crossover.
