95 993 has 942 for model number ?

I'm just curious about why my car title has 942 as model no. ? You think it would be 993 or 911 or some part of the vin. I asked the DMV and they looked at me. Shrugged. And said you owe this $. Anybody know what the 942 means. Thanks

I have seen that on some titles, specially 95' 993's, maybe is a DMV error?,but why on different DMV's, from different sates?, who knows!, will be good to know.,cheers, Stef.

Interesting... I thought Motor Vehicles screwed up, my 1995 993 says "942" on the title. I wonder what is behind it.

Since it appears to be '95 models, might it have something to with the '94 year models that were modified and sold as '95 models.

So I wonder what my cars modifications were if it was actually a modified 94 instead of a 95 ? I didn't even know they did that.

ROW 1994 model, created without the Secondary Air injection. Porsche Modified to add the SAI, given option M718.
1995 VIN tag, but 1994 engine serial number.

Really not sure if this is the cause of you issue, just a

Up to two years ago my 95 993 was also identified as a 944 by our registrar here in Canada. It's 911 now after I asked if they could change it.

When I registered my '95 cab the woman at the registry asked me if it was a model 942. I replied, "No, it is a 993" I was perplexed.

993 shows on my title and registration.

Regards,

.
