964 Cab Starting Issue
 

90 964 C2 Cab...relatively new battery kept on trickle charger...shows 12.8v but cranks like stereotypical low battery/dead battery. Runs fine once started but each start is the same even after driving it. Grounding strap/cable is free of corrosion...not sure about starter. Any ideas? Thanks.

Removed the cables running to the starter and cleaned up the contact points and still have same issue. Of note was that the solenoid (?) had a brown finish with some paint peeling...could this be due to high heat and possibly part of the problem?:confused:

Did you check the battery ground strap? Swap the battery with another & give it a try. Or take it to Sears or similar place for a test.
