993 Blower fan never stops - Help!

My rear fan motor doesn't stop. When I put the ignition key on (without starting the car and turning off the CCU blower) the rear blower runs. And when I remove the key, it continue to run and the car is cold.

I know the fan is supposed to run even if you stop the car, but that's not the problem since the fan runs without starting the car, when it's cold and it never stops.

I thought I had resolved the problem but I realised it was because the resistor I used was broken, so the fan didn't start...

I changed the resistor, the relay and the sensor. Now what do I look at???

Thanks for your help!

Bump for help. I was going to suggest the three things you already replaced. What happens if you simply disconnect the temp sensor?

I actually had the wrong plug plugged into my rear fan for a while. It ran on high for 20 minutes after car was parked regardless of engine temp dragging the battery down constantly. Don't know which car you have but the early 95 has a extra plug for the later style cooling fan

KNS, I tried to disconnect the temps sensor and doesn't solve the problem. I also removed the resistor and did not help neither.

Wesleyc, you tell me you had the wrong plug in the fan... I have to check that when I'll be home.

Just a precision, I realised that the fan doesn't start if the ventilation in the car is on Cold. But as soon I put it to heat, the rear blower starts (which is normal i think) but the problem is that it never stops...

It might just be normal. I put my key in the ignition to "On" (but did not start the motor). I turned the temp control knob way up and the blower fan kicked on in the engine compartment. I turned the knob back to a cooler setting and the fan switched off. This a '95 993.

If I understand you correctly the temp control knob is set to a higher "warm" setting, then the blower fan should continue to run as long as you don't change the setting. It's trying to warm up the interior of the car.

No, once it starts, it doesn't stop. It starts as it should, but once on, it remains on...

Wesleyc, I looked at the extra plugs I have for the varioram (there are 2) and they don't have the right connector to fit the connector coming from the blower.

I'm surprised the plug with the red / red brown stripe wires didn't fit the receptical. That was the incorrect plug that was plugged into my fan instead of the plug with the full rubber boot covering. Which is the correct one. Guess you can rule that one out ?

JG, pull the rubber boot back on the sensor connector and see if the wires are shorted together due to insulation coming off.

Below, in the first picture, you can see the wires that are not used (for the varioram that came later).

In the second picture, you can see the connectors used for the blower. As you can see, it's not the same connector type as in the previous picture. So I don't think the blower is connected to the wrong blower.

I also looked at the wires of the sensor connector to see if there was a short (thanks for the good idea) but nothing abnormal...

But the third picture shows where the relay is connected. It looks a little burnt, no? Could it be related?

Thanks again for your support, I appreciate it!
