993 oil filter
Changed the oil, it'd been a while since I'd done it and the prior change only did the engine filter.
So, I got the oil tank drain and filter fine, but my oil filter tool was worn and the drive spun in the slot and I couldn't remove the engine filter. Had to go somewhere so just filled the car with about 10 quarts of Mobile 1 0 - 40. If I get a new tool can I just swap out the engine filter, or am I going to have a big mess. Spent about $100 on the oil alone at O'Riley's.

Hi Leo, if I understand you correctly, the small engine filter is the issue..
The amount of oil to come out should only be from the filter and return tube... But, as much as I also like 0-40 Mobil 1, that is not a great oil for the older (air cooled) engine. There are a lot of threads on this subject, and again it all comes down to having the high-zinc and weight. Check out Joe Gibbs Racing, DT-50 Synthetic, high-zinc, 15W50, it is designed for air cooled engine, many more, Redling, Brad Penn etc. Mark |

I agree on the oil viscosity, 15w - 50 should be used. I've tried all types of oil filter wrenches on the 993 and this one works every time.

Anyone suggest any oil additives ? Such as lucus synthetic oil stabilizer. Or just 100% oil
