temp gauge wire pins ?

1- brown blue 2- empty 3- blocked pin hole 4- brown 5- white gray 6- orange brown 7- green white 8- empty 9- green black 10- brown white this is where I have my pins in the gauge but i dont know if they are correct ? This stupid mishap of mine came after I popped the lid off this wire boot to check for corrosion and the wire pins popped out before I could see their position. My first attempt at putting them back in resulted in my car starting up @ 5K RPMs !! Car at least runs now... My temp gauge had been not working sometimes. Now my brake wear light does'nt show on engine light check position and slowly comes on when driving. And my temp does not work at all... Wife says I should just hammer nails into boards next time I'm bored in the garrage... I tend to agree with her at this point. Can ANYBODY tell me if these wires are in the correct boot pin slots ! thank you in advance. John:confused:

Thanks bazar01. I was trying to follow the diagram you sent. My 95 must be just a bit different ? It shows 7 wires instead of 6. No gr/yellow wire to that boot ? I do appreciate your help tho. I know it's a pain to pull the gauge and open that plastic lid... For me it's down right dangerous.

Mine actually has seven wires.
There are two white wires on the bottom right pin.

I'll see if I have the 1995 993 WSM.

HELP ! I'm still looking for this wire diagram ?

TMc993 10-28-2013 03:24 PM

My 993 is a '97 normally aspirated car with a six speed. I pulled my temp gauge and took this photo of the disassembled plug. For reference, the plug with the White/White wires is plug #5. Looking at your photo, I'm not sure this will help.

I moved my br/bl and gr/bk down one slot where yours show to be Tmc993. And wallah !!! It's working ! Thank you guys so much ! I vow to NEVER open one of these caps carelessly again. John

From my blurry 95 diagram, this is what i can read.

Pin I/8 - Green/Black, from the temp sensor. Get an ohm meter and find out if you get resistance to ground. Resistance should vary with oil temp.
Pin I/4 - Brown (ground)
Pin I/6 - Orange/Brown
Pin I/5 - White/Gray
Pin I/10 - Brown/Gray

Still missing pin assignments
White/Green
Lower left corner - color?

Hopefully you can figure out the remaining unassigned pins.
