964 sway bar identification
It's time again to mess with a perfectly good car. Before I start buying sway bars, though, I want to figure out exactly what my 1990 Carrera 4 has. In particular, how would you go about verifying whether the rear sway bar is the stock 18mm bar?
And if anyone has input on the subject from personal experience, do you really miss the adjustability of the H&R front and rear bars if you just install the 21mm factory bar on the rear and leave the front alone? |
Go buy a measuring caliper and measure the diameter.

That was the method I had planned if nobody answered. I have a good caliper that will measure accurately in the relevant range, from other hobby needs. Finding it is the chore here. Thanks. :)

That's the method I'm going with. I'm planning to have the car back on the road within a couple weeks and on the track in April to find out if I can notice the difference. I'll probably report back here when I know more.
