Hi,
I'm still searching for my next 911. I've been looking hard for a 964 that doesn't cost an arm & leg. Anyhow, I've come across a 91 C4 that has a particular problem. The original owner has had the car sitting for about 6 months. He stated that everything works and runs great w/ the exception of the brakes. The owner indicates that the brake light comes on and the brakes are very spongy. The car doesn't want to stop properly. I haven't been able to see the car myself. I'm making arrangements to see the car, hopefully, next week. I'm more familiar w/the early long nose, so I know the general things to look for in brakes. However, the 964 c4, with its complex systems, is something new for me. Anyhow, given the small amount of detail I've presented, does anyone have an idea what I should be looking for in particular? This will be my first 964 should I buy it. I hope to have more information from the owner in the coming days. TIA Brent

I don't know if THIS is the problem with those brakes, but it will give you a good idea of what is involved in bleeding the brakes on a 964 C4.

I wouldn't keep this from buying the car if the rest is ok. Could be air in the system, bad Master cylinder or bad servo. None of these is particularly serious and would probably be needed anyway in an older car. Don't forget to replace rubber brake lines too.
