This forum doesn't get as much traffic as the 911 forum so if you don't get a good response here try there

Lots of good shops in SoCal, but it is a big place so it would help to narrow it down.

The 964 engine marks its spot in your garage. Most air-cooled Porsches seem to do that. Plugging oil leaks can vary from replacing the valve cover seals (which should be done every time you adjust your valves, which should be done every 12,000 miles when you change oil) to completely rebuilding the engine, depending on what is leaking and how badly.
Oleg Perelet's thread on 964 oil leaks and fixes is a treasure trove that walks you through basically all of the common oil leaks which can be fixed without taking the engine out of the car. (Warning: You will take parts of the car off of the engine to accomplish these, but it's still easier than removing the engine from the car for most of us.) Here is the thread: 964 Oil leaks & fixes thread. In early 2013, I did all of those except the top-side items (which I am going to do as soon as I have time, which I've been saying for a year now) and it really did help. I still get a drop or two of oil on the garage floor after driving the car, but it used to be about a dozen different spots. |
