993 quarter glass seal question
I have 993 quarter glass seals that I am doing in my 930 project.
I have a question regarding installation. on the widow seal there are 2 groves ![]() I assume they either go inside of the lip on the front edge or possibly straddle the rolled lip on the B pillar ![]() I have one installed with it straddling the rolled lip and it seems like it is out further than my door when the door is closed. Figured I would try here in this forum before I did the other window and had to pull them both out again tomorrow. Thanks for any advice and here is a picture of the project car. ![]() |

I don't know the answer to your question but your car is bad ass! What color is that? Is it paint or a wrap? Love it!

I have seen any posts on this forum regarding the 993 quarter window. That said, you might want to post your question over on the RennList 993 forum. I know that several of those guys have had their rear quarter window out for one reason or another and could probably give some assistance.

It has been a while since I reinstalled mine, but the flap that your thumb is holding is simply a cover for the b-pillar sheetmetal. The large channel (with the arrows in it) is just a "wiper" to have an additional pressured edge to keep water out and channel out water that makes its way past the exterior edge. The third, smaller channel is the part that straddles the spot welded sheetmetal and holds it in place.
Make sure you install it with the right type of sealant. I'm not sure what is recommended. Edit: I just noticed the additional channel you're talking about. I am fairly sure that the rolled lip on the b-pillar mates with the channel that falls between your two arrows. Last edited by Benton; 12-31-2014 at 04:43 AM.. |
