Central Locking question - doors won't stay locked

Hi all,
I have an issue that is really stumping me and hope someone on the forum can help point me in the right direction.

I took off my outer door handles and now the central locking does not work as it should.

When I either use the key, press the fob (or sitting in the car) press the central locking button - the doors lock, then immediately unlock.

To back track - this is what I did:

Took passenger outer door handle off and disassembled it. Cleaned it all up, reassembled it - however, when I put back the microsensor, I heard the doors 'click' trying to lock. I then took the microsensor off and saw I had the barrel upside down.
I then put the barrel the right way up (so that the notch points up) and reassembled.

So, to try and fault find this - i figured that the microsensor switch must be defective (although both doors worked perfectly previously), I pulled the handle off again, pulled off the microsensor, unplugged it from the door and used an ohm meter to check it.

It has three connections - two female, one male. when I used the ohm meter on one side and used my thumb to actuate the microswitch in one direction, the ohm meter registered, the other way it did not. I left the positive on the male connector and moved the negative to the other female connector and again, using my thumb, actuated the microsensor and again, it registered - this time in the other direction, but not the first direction. This i think is expected behaviour.

I have even hooked up Tore's OBD tester to see if there were any faults, however there was none.

I checked that the interior lights come on and go off (thanks Tore) as this is apparently a known issue too.

so, now I am stuck

It might be something as simple as the connecting rod being obstructed.

I had the same symptom in my 964. Ended up being the passenger (left) door. Removed the trim, ensured that obstructions were clear, cleaned and applied white grease.

All fixed.

thanks for that.

I ended up going the whole hog and pulling out all my window frame so I could get to the lock - completely removed it, cleaned it up and put everything back together and it started working !!
