964 Clock stopped !!
 

So today I notice that the gear position indicator is not lighting up anymore (tiptronic).
The car drives fine as per normal.

However I now realise that the clock is not keeping time either. (it's stopped actually).

When I removed the clock and looked at the back, i found some burned-looking bits as per below..

what's happened and what to do to fix from here?

That brownish goo is soldering flux, completely normal, leave it.
The thick pins in the centre are known to corrode become detached from their solder pads. A repair involves a soldering iron and some solder to refresh the solderings.

I got something similar fixed at Dick Smiths. Just went out the back and one of the tech's there fixed it up as it is very nearly the same as normal PC board work.

Had the gear select LED issue, but my clock was working fine. My gear select lights only worked if my lights were on.

They are now working correctly. Here's what I recently worked on. Not sure what fixed them. I changed all backlight gauge bulbs to LED's. I did the re-solder of all of the clock pins, fixed my odometer gear, changed blown clock/dome light fuse, and changed my head unit and amp.
