Supercup exhaust and x-pipe power increase ?
my question is. The cat bypass and supercup exhaust together claim a increase of 23 hp and 19 Pounds of torque. Anyone have this and actually FEEL this increase? Just curious. Thanks.

interesting question indeed. Many owners have swapped headers, mounted cat bypass pipes, cup pipes and so on... But its quite difficult to find figures that state gain in power

I try this once, and actually it droped the torque, if you have a Cup engine it is another matter, with the stock compression and tune it is not worth it., cheers.

Exhaust sounds are highly subjective but a cat bypass plus Supercups is basically straight pipes which is deafening for a street car. EXTREMELY loud. If it's a race car then have at it but you'll need earplugs.

I am not very knowledgeable on flow bench information, but I am hard pressed to believe that 23 horsepower is yielded from a stock engine that cannot get enough air inside its hemispherical heads in the first place. I have cup pipe on mine and its great for exhaust note, but power...eh.

Thanks for your input guys. I think the 23hp is only open throttle from what I've read. My daily driver is open throttle only when I'm extremely late for something or occasionally when a 25 year old is iratating me to death with his 2000 something year mustang. I think I'll pass on this setup

To update my question. I just drove my car with newly installed super cat / maxflow exhaust that I couldn't resist purchasing from fellow pelican. I definitely feel a bit more torque. Maybe not 19lbs. Though. Haven't tried the straight pipes yet. Sounds awesome at 45k rpm!

On an even firing engine like the flat six (as opposed to the odd firing V8), an X-pipe or Y-pipe doesn't have a significant effect on power or torque. They might have a scavenging effect where the pressure pulse from the right bank draws exhaust gasses out of the left bank, and vice versa, but hardly to the numbers given by some of the manufacturers. Especially on an engine with standard camshafts. What the X-pipe and Y-pipe do however, is to vastly improve the sound (in my opinion...). By combining the exhaust sound pulses from the two cylinder banks, the exhaust note will be one six cylinder rather than two three cylinder engines, with a sound frequency that is twice the Hz of a split system. Your standard Carrera or SC will sound more like a GT3 on high RPM! That is the sound that gets my adrenaline pumping!!! I love it, and my neighbors hate it! LOL!!!

Great explanation flyer. I can't feel what fabspeed advertises power wise. But it sure encourages high rpm driving !!!
