Porsche Crest A Porsche for Every Day Backdate Project

Hello fellow Porsche nuts. I have been using this forum for a long time and for some reason only just recently registered!

Anyways, the purpose of this thread is in preparation of backdate project I am planning on doing. More specifically, to a 1993 Carrera 4. I plan on daily driving this beast every day, but first I need to buy the car. I am planning for a rsr backdate/outlaw. Any opinions for what I should do to/for electrics, components, sway bars, etc. to make it reliable (even though the standard engine is pretty bulletproof, safe to drive(minimizing under-steer).

What are some difficulties faced with doing a 964 C4 backdate. Now, I know there are many, many, MANY backdate threads, but they usually involve cutting the body for a long hood conversion, etc. I do not wish to cut up the chassis. In addition, I want to make sure it is safe. Also, I wish to do it well but on a budget. What will I need to change/relocate to install an 73' ST front bumper and an 73' RSR rear bumper.

I am thinking of using the Outlaw 001s from fifteen52/MW. Anybody using these on their baby. Any size opinions (I'm thinking 17x9.5s (fronts) and 17x11s (rear). ALSO, what kind of offsets would look similar to that of the rsr or the singer backdate.

Also, out of curiosity, what color scheme do you guys (and girls) think is the best ever in Porsche history for a 911.

I really appreciate your replies!

Have you located a specific car to buy or is this just a pipe dream?

Porsche Crest

I have not located a specific car, nor is this a pipe dream. IT WILL HAPPEN. I just like to over-research so I make sure everything goes to plan (although it probably won't! ).

Now that you mentioned using a Carrera 4 as a base, why not replicate the first Paris Dakar all wheel drive Porsche engaged in the rally. On top with the color schema of Rottmans will be terrific, with less body work than a long hood backdating. For sure more exclusive.

Talk to Don, he is a good guy and already done this.
Just make you you use the correct mirrors, I still rag Don about that when I see him, and the seats..
