993 security

My 993 C2S, like all I guess, I can lock and unlock the door with the key. That said I have to unlock with the remote to disable the security, using the key does not disable. My electric mechanism is acting a bit week so my concern is at some point I have to use my Key to get in but will not be able to start the car. Question, is this normal or should the using the key disable the security allowing the car to start. If not and it can only be done using the remote is there a way to disable the security.
Any help would be much appreciated

What you described is normal. Using the key to unlock the door(s) will activate the alarm. There is no way around this. The only way to disarm the alarm system is with the fob.

The most common factors related to "weak" reaction to the fob is a weak battery in the fob, poor battery contact in the fob, a weak battery in the car and poor battery connection (Particularly the ground cable) in the car.

I would begin by (1) replacing the battery in the fob and (2) while the fob is open bending the metal contact in the fob out so that there is a tight fit and good contact with the fob battery. If that doesn't remedy the problem, then I'd look at the car battery and cables.
