964 Air filter box

Could anyone please help with this: There is a tube on the rear of the air filter box of my 1990 964 C4 and I can't find any pipes on the car that will fit. This tube is on the wrong side of the filter and if left open the engine will breath unfiltered air. I've ploughed the web and haven't been able to find out anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated

My 964's engine is out and all the injection stuff is in boxes so I pulled out the airbox and looked at it this morning. The tube you are concerned about doesn't go all the way through on my airbox. IIRC, it pushes into a rubber grommet on a support bracket and is just used to hold the airbox steady. The other side of the airbox is held in place by a stud or a bolt.
