If I understand you correctly, the motors on the left and right do not latch to the windshield frame?
If this is the case, one of the motors has a broken brass gear. There are many threads on replacing the gear.

If it went to the windscreen and stopped, then the microswitches above the windshield may not be getting triggered by the front of the top. Possibly one of the two cables that push into the motors (located behind the rear seats) has pulled out of the gear, keeping the top from closing far enough to trigger the switches.

The fix requires a new cable, or shortening the sheath of the current cable. You also need to re-align the cables and likely re-index the transmissions. Very common failure. If none of this makes sense, then take it to an aircooled shop that has seen a cabrio before.

Alternatively, just convert the top into manual mode. Mine all works, but manual mode is just as easy and it's much safer to the components.
