Can anyone post a copy of Bulletin 24.09.90 for: "clutch not disengage sufficiently". My 1991 C4 clutch pedal is hard to push and whenthe car is warm I have to push it to the floor to get the trans into 1st. I'm planning on replacing the slave and master then bleeding the system, but saw this bulliten number and thought I better check it out first.
Thanks... |

Clutch - Does Not Disengage Fully
October 30, 1990 Subject: Clutch Does Not Disengage Fully Model Group Part Identifier Number 911 C2/C4 3 3005 9003 ATTENTION: Service Manager/Service Technician Models Affected: 911 Carrera 2 and 911 Carrera 4 Concern: Clutch does not disengage fully, especially with high engine temperatures. Repair Information: The following work steps should be performed first to avoid unnecessary clutch component replacement. 1. Check clutch pedal travel. Labor Operations: 10801900 40 TU Engine protective plate R & R 30016700 20 TU Bleed clutch hydraulic system 3007200A 20 TU Clutch pedal adjustment edit: might I suggest picking up the workshop manuals or getting a subscription to Alldata?

Thanks for the info. All signals point to bleeding the clutch system. I'm going to replace the master and the slave and power bleed the system and make the adjustments. Appreciate your info.

The mystery continues since I have now replaced the clutch master, slave cylinder and rollpin. The pedal travel is significantly below spec and cannot adjust it within spec. I'm planning to shim the clutch master into the proper position to get proper travel. I don't know what else to do (except replace the pedal cluster).

At this stage I would take the car to my mechanic for a second opinion. You're in Seattle, right? John Walker's shop is in Greenwood - he's a regular contributor to the board and a good guy by all accounts. I'd see what he says - because replacing the pedal cluster would be *expensive*, I'm thinking, and there's no way of knowing for sure if it'd fix the problem.
Just my $.02 worth.
