993 central locking / alarm gremlins
Hello All,
my 993 4s has developed an annoying bug http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/huil.gif The central locking doesn't work anymore; the locking button on the central console doesn't lock the car, closing the doors manually doesn't trigger the central locking on each door anymore, the remote doesn't lock and unlock the car anymore and the door lights do not work anymore when the doors are open The alarm red LED is continuously on if a door is open; it will only switch off when both doors are closed Fortunately, the remote still disable the immobilizer when i push the button. Oh, and on top of that, the immobilizer likes to suddenly shut down the car while i'm driving, which is as you may imagine dangerous and embarrassing Do you guys have any idea before i plug the PST2 and spend hours figuring out what's the problem? Thanks Cheers http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/sad2.gifhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/huil.gif |
"Gremlins"? Jejeje...love it!
Couple of things to think about: The only thing t"electronically" hat I can think that can shut down your car while you are driving might be a bad Reference Sensor, DME Relay, or ECU. I highly doubt that a bad Immo can shut your car off while driving, there is a chance that a bad Alarm could kill the car. (BTW the Immo and the Alarm are 2 different Control Units in your 993 in case that you didn't know.) Now, you say that you can disable the Immo by pressing the Remote. This means that at least some of the fuctions of the Immo module are working. However, the Immo also tells the Alarm unit when to open/close the door locks. This 2nd instruction may not be passing over to the Alarm unit, or the Alarm unit is receiving it, but it has a problem of its own that cannot carry out that instruction. Have you connected the PST2 yet? Any fault codes that you got that may give us more clues? Let me know |
