1989 964 Retractable Spoiler

I have an 89 964 C4 Coupe.

From my research, starting in 1990, the 964 had a switch just above the gear shifter that allowed you to manually raise/lower/turn off the retractable spoiler.

Is there a way on the 89 964 to:
- Turn it off from coming on at 80kph
- Manually raise it while stopped as I would like to clean the inside of it that only gets exposed when it is raised.

Thanks!

Derek

IIRC in '89 that switch was in the engine department. Use that to raise for cleaning, and leave it upplugged the rest of the time.

Pretty sure I'd get a warning light for doing that in my '90.

Thanks porterdog, do you have a photo or more detail you can share on the location of the switch? Thanks!

Its a small toggle switch under the deck lid , just look along the wiring harness near the motor

I think if you have someone turn off the ignition when spoiler is raised it should stay up

I was just shown this the other day had no idea. It's on the lid on the left near the wing control box a silver rocker switch. Looks non factory.

Yup, that worked. Turn the key to power on the electrics but not starting the engine, then open the lid and look for the silver toggle on the left hand side to raise the spoiler.

Cant figure out how to post pics...asking me for a URL...sorry.

I keep my spoiler open all the time at any speed on my '90 C2. I think helps the air flow for cooling. I only put it down, say at the car wash. Don't want cold water on a hot engine. The way I do is I unplug the motor and plug it back in when I change its position. It works the other way around also I get no warning light.
