964 DME Chip "964RSFW"

I am working through my new project car, a 1975 911S with a 3.6 from a 1994 964 (bought someone else's project). I pulled the DME (964618.124.03, 0 261 200 473) and discovered the chip is an aftermarket chip, which is not a surprise given it has a light weight flywheel etc to connect it to a 915.

Does anyone know who's chip it might be if it says "964RSFW" on the chip top? I wondered if that meant "964 RS chip setup for a light weight flywheel." I know it is a long shot, anyone know?

Not ours.

But why do you need to know?

Do you want to go back to a stock configuration?

Actually no, I do not want to go back to stock. I was planning on getting a Steve Wong Chip, as I have that in other cars and have been very happy with it. The car was 2 other people's project, and the motor had not run since 2012....and it came from LA Dismantlers......so I was trying to figure out what it might be for historical purposes, and for a baseline.

The car seems to run fine so far except checking the oil it tough, because as soon as I open the oil tank to check the dipstick the engine dies. Can we say VACUUM LEAK?

Likely just as you surmised "chip for RS Fly Wheel " since many early 3.6 engines had difficulty
once the light weight flywheel was installed...

I would bet that it uses the RS ignition advance, and raises the idle microswitch fuel cut which helps with the lwfw. Wong chip is similar, but he really refines the part-throttle ignition advance. Can't go wrong with his products.

Went to a SW Chip...oh what a difference. The car is still not running right, but FAR BETTER. IT catches the idle with the light weight flywheel almost perfectly, idles smoother, smells far less rich......

It pops on decal, revs to above 2,000 RPM on start up and then settles to a nice idle, and has a flat'ish spot up top. Yes I checked the resonance valve and that seems to work. Who ever built this car did not put a vacuum reservoir in so it does not move with the key on/engine off like most, but it appears to work otherwise. When I unplug the ISV the car dies though....hmm.
