964 Question - Rocker Panels

Hell all,

Any recommendations/tips for replacing (including the R&R) the black beading that sits between the body and the rocker panels on a '90 C2 coupe?

Thanks,

Mitch

I have not done this yet but have read that its fairly common to break a few of the mounting clips so buy a full set. Another basic write up of this process can be found HERE

i took my panels off and cut the rubbers a bit oversized.
the best glue i found was 3M weatherstrip adhesive.
carefully applied glue and used small woodworking clamps to hold them on till the glue dried. left overnight, trimmed ends to length.
these are now the best fitting and most secure i have ever seen on any of these models!
take your time, clean the panels, polish and wax when done, reinstall and you'll be very happy!

Thanks all for the suggestions. The installation went well, and was a great opportunity to do some cleaning. Having the correct parts on hand before starting the job was key to a successful project. The car looks much better! Thanks again. Mitch

bringing this thread back from the dead as i am about the R&R these as well and just wanted to make sure that you are indeed saying that the below pictured seal (part number 6) is indeed glued on to the shark fin (part number 2) ??
and then have to be trimmed as well ?

i will wash and detail the shark fin and the now exposed area in the meantime.

thanks in advance for your replies.

I did not glue mine , I made sure it was warm/flexible and had a coat of Aerospace 303 on it, no problems with it..

Not glued. Retained by the body and the the tail by part 19. Have a *good* look at it before teardown; any time I have these bits off I find my self going back to the picture above to make sure it's right on reassembly.

Haven't seen anyone mention it, but on my car at least there were places where the original seal had rubbed thru the paint. I cleaned them well and then applied touch up to keep the tinworm away.

An old bump, but does anyone have an idea of what parts 4, 19, 15 in the chart above are called? My rocker is loose on one side and these items seem to be missing. Ive been trying to find them on Pelican, but can't seem to find those bits.
