Aluminum pieces inside fender to bumper seal

There are two small AL rods that look to fit inside the seal. They are malleable. The seal part number is 993 505 544 00. Anybody have any idea where they go? The old ones i took off didn't seem to have them. I figure they are to keep from crushing the seal to much, but any assistance is appreciated. TIS-Bill

They are inserted into the rubber seal to help hold its shape. If I recall they are used where the seal tucks under the hood. If your old ones were missing some body shop guy lost them or neglected to replace them. I replaced mine (along with new seals) when I had my front bumper off.
