Engine in boxes, I'm in bits

Hi all, I have posted on here periodically, and a couple of years ago I bought my dream car out of a barn, a 1990 c2 coupe, not a mark on it. The engine was showing signs of overheating so I decided to have the engine rebuilt, 2 years later I managed after a long running dispute I have managed to get it back engine from a very very dishonest guy, who came highly recommended. The engine is now in bits, in boxes, most things seem to be there. Nothing has been labelled and I must admit to feeling very down over the whole thing.

The builder came highly recommended but has left me with an awful mess.

Can anyone recommend a good builder in the UK who can work on an engine in bits (the last engine builder was in Ireland) ? Thanks Galen

My engine is also in bits, but I'm in control as I'm rebuilding it myself. There aren't that many pieces and most are easy to identify. I'd make sure I had everything before sending it to a rebuilder. Maybe lay it out and take pics so we can see what you have.

Btw I feel for you. I was give a recommendation for an upholstery job which turned out to be a nightmare.

First of all : Do not give up !!! Most of us we love to rebuild these engines and believe me it is not that hard to have it assembled , very few special tools are required !!!

As John said :

Many engine experts here :

Take photos from your parts stash and we will try to identify them for you and also to see if you miss anything.

You can ship them over to me and I will gladly assemble for you.. but I fear shipping would be crazy dollars!

I would also contact Mike Bainbridge he has only good feedback over the forum for both engine & gearbox rebuilds...

Hi Galen, are you on Impactbumper? I just had my 3.2 rebuilt by Dave at RSRPorsche in Liphook, on the A3.

I know the many of the UK guys over on Rennlist highly recommend Redtek and Ninemeister:

Air-cooled Porsche 911 engine experts | Nick Fulljames - Redtek, Brackley, Northamptonshire

www.ninemeister.com

I have no personal experience or affiliation with either company. Good luck getting her back together!
