993 Speemometer repair
My 95 993 odometer died as they all will from what I'm finding. I guess Porsche used a grease to lube the odo gears and softens the material over time. With that in mind, resetting your trip should wipe out the odo gears. Fast forward.... I purchased the gears, both large and small, watched the video on youtube, all went well. I put the speedometer back in the car and it didn't work. I contacted the place I bought the gears from and they said to send it to them. I sent the speedo via USPS on Monday (priority, 2 day) they got it yesterday afternoon, called me last evening around 6pm with it all set!!! They said I had some solder joint issues and charged me $45 plus shipping. I should have it by Saturday. A huge thanks to Specialty Guage!!! If you guys need guage work, I strongly suggest contacting Cory. Here's the info:

Good Technician, Light on Integrity
I sent my speedometer to Cory for repair. I sent it with the rubber sleeve on it. When he returned it, the sleeve was missing. I called him about it. He said he didn't remember the sleeve, but he sent a replacement. The replacement sleeve was so old and dry, I could not use it even after a silicon bath. I called Cory again. He says he sent another replacement, but it never arrived. After that, he IGNORED my calls. He's a good technician, but apparently not so good at fulfilment. He fixed the speedometer, but I couldn't install it without the sleeve. I am disappointed, but at least I could buy a new sleeve here at Pelican Parts

BH993, sorry to hear that. I removed the sleeve when I sent the speedometer out.

Good to know about this shop. I've always used North Hollywood Speedometer. Cory is local to me and would much rather drive down and drop it off. Thanks.
