What do you mean? The lever next to your left leg mounted in the lower side of the door opening is not working? Or do you mean the safety catch located on the front inside of the hood?

When you pull on the release lever inside the car the hood should open about an inch. This allows access to the hood safety release in the front center under the hood. Place your hand under and push up the latch while pushing down on the top of hood slightly. It should open.

The lid sometimes sticks closed if it hasn't been opened for a long time. Have someone try to pull up on the lid when you pull on the release mechanism. Using a plastic pry bar will also help. If not there is a release cable inside the front left wheel well. You need to remove the wheel liner to access it.
