What to do with this antic phone?
Hi friends,
How deletable do you think this antic phone is? I'd like a clean look without unnecessary equipment (and weight). ![]() Thanks! |

Looks like you have an antique stereo head unit too. It will cost a little to update all that. You'll need a different console to make it look right.
Those old phones are always up to their old antics!

I guess that depends on what car and condition. I have the same phone in my 928GTS. It is supposedly one of 7 GTS that received this option in the US. IIRC it was over $3k option. I was originally going to remove it but glad I kept it as it adds value to the car. The phone is useless but a novelty. I removed the battery and put it in storage. I didn't want it to leak and do damage.
The center consoles are worth huge money and quite rare. IIRC the entire knee pad was modified to make these fit and you would need to replace the knee pad as well as a new center console and carpet parts all add up to big $$$ to make it look correct. I have seen some modify the center console to add other components but that would destroy the unit and decrease the value. Tough call it is your car but IMO I would keep it.

Alright, after a few weeks with the car, I have decided to keep it. It makes my car a bit different and was, indeed, not cheap back then

This thread may - or may not - help depending on which way you're leaning.
