90 C2 rocker panel clips

While removing the A/C lines from LF to LR wheel wells, I ended up breaking a few of the clips that hold the rocker panel in place. So I fired up PET and ordered a few of 999 591 916 40 from our host.

The problem is that they don't fit. The broken one is on the left, the new one is a single piece and fastens differently.

Upon further review, my rocker panel part number (964 559 193 01) does not match PET. So it appears that when the rocker panel part was superceded, they also changed the clips.

Would anyone happen to know the part number of the old clips? Any chance they are the same as the turbo clip (999 591 991 40)?

TIA.

Here's what I got from the local Porsche dealer about a year ago. The package says the part number is 99959191660 the same as yours. The part was a perfect replacement for the original broken clip off my 1993 964 rocker panel. It also looks to be the same as your original part.

Hmmmm, either give Pelican another shot (they could have been supplied the wrong part, or someone put the wrong one in the bag), or try the dealer. The bag says your clips were made in Germany, I wonder what that clip is for??

I opened a service ticket with Pelican. I'll see what they say before visiting my dealer.

Just replaced mine as well (oil hose to thermostat leak), got mine from the dealer as they had different styles and I almost ended up with the wrong thing as you did.

I ordered the same part number from my dealer, and the new parts do match my old parts. So it appears that Pelican has the wrong physical part for this part number; I have notified them of this problem and will return the incorrect parts.

I just fixed the passenger side shark fin that came loose on my 93 964.
The plastic tabs on the shark fin broke off and were not holding the support stud anymore. I did reused the original support studs and just glued them back to the shark fin with JB Weld. I also glued the driver side to be sure they don't break off.
These are the correct parts in case anybody needs them.
1. Support Stud, PN 99950737300, 4 pcs.
2. Plastic nut, PN 99904902240, 4 pcs.

^^^^ That's clever. But once you slip those studs into the holes on the rocker, how are you going to screw on the nut on the backside? I couldn't figure out a way to slip my hand in to thread on and tighten the bluish one in the center of your photo.

passenger side shark fin

I was watching this thread and hoping to find a work around to tighten the center screw. I have been dealing with this for years and it should have been addressed when I had the engine out. Here is my latest try on the center mount. I had some powerful magnets lying around and placed on the backside a "flat bar" shaped magnet with a dimension 1/2" x 1.5" and then using JB Weld I attached to the shark fin a magnet about the size of a quarter.

Did you remove the wheel liner and bits to access them? I have never had any issues accessing these. Also the early tubs are different than the 91 on. The indents for the clips are large to accommodate the clips used on the turbos. All the tubs received the upgrade. The factory workshop manuals address the broken clips and gluing them into place.

Noah930, i had to remove the pass rear wheel and got a 1/4" drive flex 10mm socket with a 6 inch extension. You have to put a tape on the socket to hold the plastic nut to keep it from falling off.
Real easy.

Thanks. I went with superglue. I figured this wasn't going to be something I'm taking on and off with any sort of frequency. So I screwed/bolted in the center clip, and then I glued the shark fin down to it. The rear clip I screwed in the normal/intended way.
