Were original 965 wheels polished, anodized or painted silver?

Hello sir
91/92 964 C2 Turbo came painted, but alot of buyers in California had the dealer Chrome the wheels before delivery, I worked for Porsche back in 92/93 at Newport Beach Porsche California. I hope this helps Helio

Yes, a lot were chromed. The best way to do them is powder coating. Paint alone isn't as good.
Look up Jim Dorichak?? He does the 3 piece wheels exactly like the factory and has the correct silver and could no doubt refinish yours. On the center caps, he's trying to figure out if they said turbo or just the Porsche emblem. Can't say for sure on that |

To be precise the 94 speedlines came standard with painted silver centers & polished lips the turbo S came with polished centers polished lips. I have never seen a set chrome plated.
Option code 407 gave you the polished centers on the stock 94 turbo. Option code XD9 could get you the centers painted in body color with polished lips I don't have the option code off hand but you could also have the wheels painted custom colors with polished lips. The turbos came standard with turbo script center caps NLA AFAIK Option code XD4 offered you the color crested center caps instead. These are also NLA but you can buy the 993 versions with the newer black lettered Porsche in the crest instead of the gold lettering. The problem with powder coating the clear is it is too shinny. The stock speedlines clear coat made the polished lips look less shinny than powder coating. More like the RH replicas look. Although powder coating holds up better and you don't get the spider cracks in the clear that the speedlines suffer from.
