993 AC compressor wiring issue
I'm normally in the 911 forum but helping a friend who just bought a '95 993 cab:
A/C compressor won't come on with out jumping power to it. Engine compartment relay is good, but no power to relay and brittle/peeling wire found leading to it. Anyone have experience replacing that part of the wiring harness? It doesn't appear to be part of the recall harness unless I missed something. All help appreciated!

Lots of things, not enough freon, bad control unit, fan speed resistor at the condenser, etc.

Do you have the tools to diy or just trying to get an idea so you can tell your friend to take it to a shop and not get ripped off?
If you want to diy, you need to have the proper tools, set of manifold gauges, a digital meter or a test light at the minimum and a complete understanding of how an hvac system on this car works. You need to hook up the gauge and tell us what the readings are. Perform voltage check on various points in the control circuit. Then somebody here can walk you through the troubleshooting.

Thanks for all the replies. I have a post on rennslist too, but not much feedback there so far.
He just got the car back from P N. Hou-they replaced the engine compartment wiring harness under recall. We were hoping this might get power to the a/c compressor relay but no luck. We'll start running wires this weekend hopefully.
