Can Durametric Pro program a used ecu to my car.?
I think my cars ecu is bad and I want to buy a used one but need it programmed to my car and don't want to tow it 45 miles to the Porsche dealer to do it.
The car is a 99 996 6 speed.

I am getting a clone Piwis 2 for my 997 Cab Project

I have purchased clone software for Dodge Witech Cat ET etc it all works with limitations you cant download update files go online to source etc its offline only

But far superior to generic programs for detailed diagnostics you can change parameters of the ecu most important do relearns.

FWIW I think these Companies are criminal not allowing full access to diagnostic software and ecu parameter changes or forced dealer when you replace a ecu

Of course you can have access for $20k a year thats BS

Its been awhile since I have had a Porsche 911 my last a 1977 930 sold it 10 years ago too soon. Went to Lambo and Ferrari they are toys you cant drive I miss driving a exotic and yes a Porsche 911 is a exotic 997 here i come LOL

Too answer OP question a Piwis Clone will tell you if your ECU is bad it will not be able to be diagnosed vs the other ECUs in the car. If its bad take it out get a used reprogram or refurbush. I know this is an old post but since I am buying a Piwis clone

Just a heads up the place I ordered from MHH..... I wont say full name here for the clone PIWIS is playing games and raising prices scamming so dont bother trying to order a clone from China now they all talk and are raising the prices to $500

FWIW you can get a PIWIS Clone for around $400. Do not buy from MHH Auto.com they are scammers from China.

There are other sites you can get PIWIS clone from for less, I will add you need to be a bit computer savvy with the clone software at least with every one I have bought and used as there will be patches for cracks and mods to make it work, the Companies selling them are useless about it usually Google searches and carefful watch of install videos included is needed.

Autologic is not cheap. It is OE level diagnostic and programming....

J2534 is making alot of the very high end diagnostic tools redundant for some shops...

Porsche doesn't participate in J2534 so a PIWIS or Autologic are required. There may be others...

I did get a Chinese PIWIS cable with Durametric 3.0, it works but is buggy loses signal you need to hit functions twice to scan at first may give an error but for the price I can't complain It far superior to any commercial scanner code reader including several thousand Snap On readers as its specific to Porsche.

I also ordered a PIWIS its coming here in a few days from a new vendor will give opinion on it its pricy almost $500 but will save that one trip to a shop, my ac not working and PSM Nav Stereo showing errors, FWIW the Durametric say AC Module bad ordered another will compare to PIWIS.
