2003 996 radio swap

Let me start out by saying I'm not an audiophile and I was in a regional rock band for 7 years so my hearing may not be as discerning as yours. But, my new radio sounds great.

My Bose amp died and I chose to go the modern radio route rather than have the amp rebuilt or buy a used unit. Now some of you are sitting out there thinking "It's not a Porsche anymore", but I can live with that. Besides, I didn't go with the 2 din touch screen option. I selected an Alpine UTE-73BT because it has blue tooth, I phone and you can select orange illumination which is similar to the car's other instrumentation. I pulled the Most cables (gasp) and trimmed the conduit just inside the cabin and the frunk. Then I ran a cat5 type 9 wire bundle (one extra wire in case I decide later to add an amp) through the Most conduit out to the location where the Bose amp used to reside and made my speaker connections. I did not hook up the sub woofer but did connect all the other speakers. The only other part you'll need is an antenna adapter (Merta part number 40- vw12 or 40-eu10).
