996 engine drop

Hi all I have a 996 on 02 plate cabrio tiptronic am trying to lower the engine so i can remove coolent resorvoir so as to get to the AOS at the back Lowering the engine drops to the right but barely enough on the left where the coolent bottle is. wonder if it is the drive shaft needs turning or is it something else the issue if any. Any insight from anyone who experienced this .cheers

Remove the long bolts through the engine mounts. Remove the large coolant hoses.

Of course, support the engine via the sump cover area (that's been protected with a wood block) with a jack. The jack will allow you to easily lower the engine the 1-2 inches you'll need for the reservoir job.

Only drop as far as is needed so as not to inadvertently over-stretch any electric wires or vacuum lines or hoses.

not dropping enough

Hi Thanks for the info taking hoses out still does not drop left side of engine, to clear space to slide out coolent container, the fuel intake is nudging coolent outlet pipe ,engine needs to drop another inch .so anyone has this experience cheers

I'm going through the same hell currently trying to replace AOS (for a second time since 2017).

I read online where the poster said he pushed coolant res as far to front of car as possible then took out the black holder in place piece. That gave enough top clearance. Actually, I believe he took out the right side bolt/screw for the black holder thing, loosened the left bolt and rotated the piece.

My issue is I started taking the res out and got it stuck. I stopped and left it for a couple of days. To resume this afternoon.

This worked well for me.
Used 1/4” drive 10” wobble extension with 10mm socket.
