Repairing rusty brake hardline- 996 C4
Hello I recently purchased a 1999 Porsche 996 C4 and one of the hard brake lines in the rear is quite rusty . It is driver's side and fairly accessible . A little online research says the line is 3/16 diameter .
So I believe the repair consists of buy section of new tubing , cut old back to " clean " and then flare everything . Is that it in a nutshell ? All other lines look good . At the same time I will replace rotors and pads along with soft lines to get everything up to snuff . And will flush/bleed with new fluid . I have watched a few videos so I think I got this but any tips/suggestions anyone has is appreciated . |

brake line
Just buy a new line from Porsche.By the time you buy the correct tool from Snap-On and learn how to make a proper flare you are better off buying the correct part that is pre-bent to shape. The front & rear systems operate at 1200-1300 lbs. of hydraulic pressure.Just a suggestion.Ciao Fred
