Dash Removal for HVAC Foam - and rattles?
My 2002 996TT didn't escape the common 986/996 issue of the foam breaking down on the HVAC blend doors. I know there are easier ways to address the blend door issues, but I'm leaning towards the dashboard removal option to get the best access. I would also like to address some of the interior rattles, assuming some of them are behind the dashboard. Does anyone have any experience with rattle mitigation in the 996 interiors?

I'm going to try and do the dashboard method too. Wish us both luck.

Yes, while removing the dashboard, add foam tape or felt pads around contact points, clips, and wiring harnesses to reduce rattles. Use Dynamat or similar sound-deadening material on metal surfaces behind the dash. Also, check for loose fasteners and plastic trim pieces that may be causing noise.

Bought an old evap box and cleaned out everything to get rid of all the smell and foam and cleaned out all the foam. Gonna remove the dash over the weekend.
