Oil Change
I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS ON CHANGING THE OIL FOR THE 997 WITH 3.8 ENGINE. I KNOW WHERE THE ENGINE OIL PLUG AND FILTER ARE, BUT I HAVE HEARD IT IS NOT A 'NORMAL' PROCESS...

Have you tried the Rennlist 997 pages? Here's the 997 forum:

Not so, it's an easier change than on my SC. The oil filter cartridge is very accessable. I would reccomend the oil filter cover socket.

Well yea, but he was asking about the 997, not the 996. I'm not sure if the engine's are similar under there or not.
As for the 996 oil change, yea I have to agree. Easiest oil change I've ever done. You could do it with all four tires on the ground if you wanted to. |

Thanks,
After looking through 'PELICAN'S products, it looks like its' as straight forward as you suggest. Other than needing a 50 cent seal washer for the drain plug. I also ordered the filter cover socket. I had worried the 'dry sump' had a separate drain/filter system... Steve |
