Painting 996 bumperettes
Can anyone provide some information on how to properly prep the black bumperettes on the a 996 for painting to match the car's color?

I don't think they can be painted properly since they are made out of rubber. It would be better to buy a set of paintable ones from a later model car.

I painted my 2000's with vinyl paint that I painted my console with, only preped with washing followed by Duplicolor prep pad. All the vinyl grain shows thru & paint adhesion was fine. At some point in later cars switch was made to a smooth finish that blends with bumper better but I prefer the grain finish myself.

A local shop uses the Dupli paint and it looks fantastic. I plan to do these and the chin spoiler in the winter.
