Cracked Cylinders
It's great to see that LN Engineering has come out with fixes for the IMS and its problems. While researching 996s I've also seen reports of cracked cylinders. How does one know during a PPI that there may be potential problem with the cylinders?
If one's 996 suffers from this is there a permanent fix (during a rebuild I would assume) like the IMS upgrade? The IMS and RMS problems seem to have been solved.. I hope. I'm taking a look at the 996 but I want to know what I'm getting into.

LN engineering has the cracked cylinder cure also. It is mostly the 3.4 engines that have this problem (99-01) a cylinder leakdown test during PPI will help foresee problems like this.

I have seen sooooo many 996 with over 100K miles with original engines (and IMS), that I do not get concerned about it. I understand engines have failed (D-chunk, IMS, or whatever else), but it seems that those that have failed get a lot more promotion than the majority (those that have over 100K miles and still running with original IMS).
Byprodriver is correct, LN has the cylinder inserts to rebuild engines.

Pesuazo, Thanks for your comments about the soundness and reliability of the 996.
