Replace Brake - Need advise

I am about to replace my brake on 996. How to I know when to replace the rotor? what tools to I need to measure if my rotor still good or need replacemnet.

You need a decent micrometer to measure the rotor thickness.

You need a dial caliper or 1" micrometer. Be sure to measure in the center avoiding any ridges that have developed at the edges. Th minimum thickness is stamped into the perimeter of the disc. Sand the edge with a 3M pad to find it. Be prepared to replace them as they are generally considered a wear item these days. However, they can be freshened by turning if they are not too far gone.

be aware if you have drilled or slotted rotors they cannot be resurfaced......
