996tt flat battery and more
I have a 2000 996 TT with only 20k miles. The battery is flat and I messed uo the order of connecting the slave Battery to the fuse box positive poll. Now everything is dead!, I did not have the key in the door lock and when the alarm sounded, I tried to turn it off with the key fob!
I take it the alarm has locked out or some such! Anybody got any ideas/solution? Thanks Peter |

I think I have it sorted. Chopped the last couple of feet off a car vacuum cleaner with a cigar lighter connection. The cable is heavier gauge than the charger leads so should be ok. Then just hooked it up to a battery charger. Can one open the luggage compartment, too dark to battle on but have left charger connector and will see result in the morning
Happy days I hope!! Peter |

There are emergency release cables for engine compartment and trunk (also known as frunk)
The one for the engine compartmant is between the drivers side, left, taillight assy and the bumper cover. If you lightly wedge a rubber spatula, silicone scraper, between the light assy and the bumper you should be able to see and hook the cable out with a thin stiff wire. Then pull straight to the side to release the latch. The front cable is behind the plastic inner fender in front of the right front wheel. You might have to take the wheel and plastic inner fender off to get to it. There is a + cable connection under a plastic cover marked + on the right side of the engine compartment. If you get in to the engine compartment use that and the bolt head for the air cleaner housing/body mount to jump/charge etc...

Thanks for the help guys. The power supply with a charger through the cigar lighter did the trick and having left it charging over night, I am back in business. An easy way to open the lids, going to use this method to keep it charged up using a battery conditioning charger.... Easier and quicker!
