CEL from oil cap
My 2000 Carrera threw the dreaded CEL last week. I called Momentum Porsche and made an appointment. I patiently waited a little more than 1 hour for the dealer to tell me that I had not properly replaced the oil cap when I added oil. This dealership has done me right several times now. Total price to get CEL fixed, $0.0

Interesting. Perhaps has to do with some kind of pressure.

Bingo! The dealer said there was some sort of pressure measurement that caused the CEL to light up. I am guessing that if I were to have simply replaced the oil cap properly, the light would have gone off after a few drive cycles. But that is just a guess.

The crankcase operates under a slight (~5 inches of water) vacuum to help the low tension piston rings seal, if the cap is loose, there is no vacuum.............
