'01 TT backup/reverse lights - bad switch??
Vehicle: '01 TT
Hi. I installed a backup camera in my car this weekend and in the process discovered that my backup lights don't work. It seemed like it would be an easy fix until the nice folks at Pelican Parts told me that the switch for the N/A 996's is different than the one for the turbo cars. I've read that that the switch is tied into some part near the gear selector, but I'm not sure what it is I'm looking for. I've also heard that there's a relay that could be the culprit. The issue isn't the B5 fuse (sadly). Can you help me get started on tracking down the issue? By the way, the camera gets a thumbs up! While the picture clarity isn't quite as good as a factory camera, it works well enough for me. I have an Alpine IWA-D310 headunit. |
By way of an update, it was the switch. A liberal cleaning with electrical contact cleaner and it works like a charm!!! Not only that, but now my mirrors tilt down when in reverse (as they are tied in to the same circuit).
Woohoo!! Now, if only I could get all of these darned check engine light issues resolved. |
