996 wheel locks
I had new tires put by swire tire in Ripon, ca last year..I confirmed with them that they put the wheel locks in the trunk. Now I have the car in the body shop for a damaged wheel and suspension evaluation (I hit a brick) and the wheel lock is missing.
1. are wheel locks standard on a 2002 996? 2. If they are or not, how do I get the lug nuts off? Thanks for your advice. |

Unfortunately with many modern vehicles the only way to get the locks off without damaging them is with a master set or or getting a replacement key which would require knowing the key code from the missing key.
There are other ways shops can remove the locks but almost always it requires damaging them. -Matt |

wheel locks
Thankyou for the response. We managed to find the lock socket rolling around in the trunk. I have less comfort in using lock because of this episode.

In my opinion wheel locks are a waste as they only keep honest people honest . If a pro thief wants your wheels he has the right tools to do so . Make it hard enough to steal them he takes the car .

get a set of these. Surprised your shop doesn't have them.
