Engine # Decipher

I am not sure if I copied the numbers correctly. Does any body have a chart that tells me what this engine is? M96/0466101301

I see from the info I read that it is the 661 # that points to the year. It looks to me that this engine has been installed in this vehicle. It is a 99 Carrera. I think the code should be 66x.

It is not a factory reman, as those contain an "AT" in the sequence, but it could be a third party replacement.

Yes your probably right some one other than Porsche installed it however it is one of the best running engines I have heard in a while. No leaks hardly any chain ramp noise on start up when it's cold and good cam deviation readings. No chunks of metal in the pan or oil filter. Very slight engine misfire due to a cracked coil housing. Thanks for the info.
