Guys n Gals:
Two weeks ago, I was surprised at around 8:30pm heading East towards Freeport, Long Island on the Southern State Pky. It was low, a Silver Anthracite (not sure) color and pretty quiet as it went past me doing 55mph. I was driving my dads Honda and was able to get a closer look at this 996. I was not looking to draw the drivers attention pulling up while behind it. Then i noticed a dual winged spoiler with a oval port under the 2nd wing and "Gemballa" was written in white directly under it. I had never seen one in real life and i got all flustered. The rear license plates said " Retired" and was a veteran of some sort. Then i realized i had my "1st Close Encounter". It was seductive. I wish i was driving my CS and i don't think about 996's a lot. My cousin has a 2000 Carrera S. That's Cool. I remember "Vanilla Ice" The rapper had a Convertible White Gemballa that was a killer back in the Day... I hope to see this driver/Car again i the daylight and really get a 1 on 1 look at this fantastically crafted Porsche... Hope that owner is on this Forum, i can say "Nice Car, Dude". ![]() Later...

Another close encounter:
I was driving north on the Henry Hudson from NYC in a Honda Pilot when I saw a grey Porsche up ahead. Naturally I had to investigate. The Porsche was driving incredibly slow on that twisty road, so it was easy to catch. But as I got closer and closer I started to realize this was no ordinary "911". He was in the middle lane, and the left lane was full, so I started to close in on right hand lane. It's then that I saw GT2 written across the back. I pulled up next to the guy, and tried to get his attention to give him the thumbs up. Nothing doing. He was focused on the road, doing all of about 40 MPH….in his GT2! I tried again…to no avail.I finally kinda gave up, and then looked closer at who was driving behind those sun glasses... …you guessed it! Our favorite celebrity comedian, and Porsche's biggest fan.
