Porsche Crest Porsche 2002 911 996 3.6 automatic transmission question

Hello everyone , I am new to this forum,
I have purchased my first porsche 996 2002 facelift with 3.6L engine and automatic steptronic transmission.

The transmission takes off from second gear, but when you accelerate hard it down shifts to first.
I was wondering is it possible to connect a porsche computer to the car and programme the transmission to always take off from first gear instead of second?

And also my last question is, is it possible to disconnect the air oil separator from the intake manifold? i know you are meant to block the intake manifold inlet but what should you do with the pipe that connects to the oil separator? can you block that as well or will it built up pressure?

Kind regards
Seth

No, and no.

Your description of the transmission function is as the car was designed, and to change it would require a custom re-map of the computer.

Disconnecting the AOS is a bad idea; these are low ring tension engines that require sump vacuum to create proper ring seal, and you would end up pressurizing the sump and blowing out the oil seals as well.

thank you so much for your response, I told my mechanic to install a new oil air separator.
Also with the IMS does that need to be replaced at a certain time or mileage?
My mechanic said there is no sign of metal particles in my oil filter; so he said dont worry about it your ims is fine. He said before they fail there will be metal particles in your oil filter. Is that true?
and what do you recommend i should do? because if it does fail there is no way i can afford to rebuilt my engine. and i want to avoid it to get to that.

By the time you see metal in the oil or filter, it is already too late. Once you see metal, the engine already needs to come apart.

As far as when, as soon as time and funds permit; you have the single row style bearing, which is the least durable design, and the most prone to fail.

LN Engineering and Jake Raby's Flat Six Innovations developed the IMS Solution which totally removes the ball bearing system from the equation. Not cheap, but bullet proof.

Maybe put an "IMS Guardian" from Flat6 in?

"The IMS Guardian™ is the first advanced warning system for imminent IMS failure (and eleven other modes of failure) that will automatically monitor the health of your engine.

Installing the IMS Guardian™ today prevents the guessing game of timing a more expensive IMS Retrofit, and the potential for an even more costly engine replacement.

At just $389.95 (MSRP), the IMS Guardian™ is inexpensive peace of mind. If the IMS Guardian™ alerts, shut down the engine immediately to prevent further damage and schedule a $995 (MSRP) IMS RetroFit to replace the compromised IMS bearing and save your engine. "

Not quite correct; if the Guardian goes into alert mode, and the engine does have metal debris in it, it is not a candidate for any type of IMS retrofit as the remaining metal will promptly kill the retrofit. After the alert, the engine will have to come out for a full tear down and rebuild, but it can still be salvaged at a lower cost than having to replace it with a new bullet.

Jake Raby recently "fired" one of the shops certified for the installation of the IMS Solution because they violated this rule............
