Buying 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera S
I'm looking to buy a 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera S (997) and I'd like to ask this forum what you think of the car (+ & -) and what I should look for or be careful of with this car. I has about 45k miles. Thank you, Dirk

Great car. I have a 996... but I think the 997 is a nice ride.

I think I've read that the 2005 and possibly some of the 2006's have the smaller IMS (intermediate shaft?) which is prone to failure and often leads to engine replacement. From what I have read, the problem may be associated with tip cars more so than the m6, due to revs staying a bit higher with the m6 providing better lubrication of the engine. Late 2006's were built with a larger IMS which seems to have solved the probem.
