Collision and 996 Instrument Cluster
I recently rear ended a car and needed front bumper replacement. When I drove the car into the shop my instrument cluster was working fine. When I picked up the car (2001 996 w/approx. 86,000 mi) there was (still is) spidering on the middle LCD display. Can there be a connection between the collision and the condition? My insurance co. called two Porsche dealerships (Circle and BHills) and was told it was a coincidence. I have spoken to a private Tech as well as one for my Zone on pca.org and both have stated that it was possible, akin to a person who starts hurting two or three days after an accident.
Any info greatly appreciated........ Scotthttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390372368.jpg |
never heard that it can be related to an accident, as that happens a lot on its own.

996 Cluster LCD spidering and Ins. Co
Today I was pleased to be informed that my Ins. co would cover the cost for repair to my LCD display. Given my unique circumstances combined with the evidence I presented apparently was enough for them.

Cold weather.
Happened to my Boxster when left outside at a shop on a particularly cold night. Mike |
I guess cold weather is a possibility, but here in Southern Calif., where the weather was actually unseasonably mild while car was in the shop...70's by the beach where I live during the day and low 60's at night, probably not likely but....who knows. Just happy that the Ins. co is picking up the tab....as they should!
