2010 Carrera S with 50xxx on the clock - buy or stay away

I'm in the market for a 2009-2011 S. The local dealer has one with most of the options I'm looking for but it has more miles than I'd like. I was hoping to stay under 30k. However this one is priced very well which is odd for the dealer. Is this due to some significant maintenance costs on the horizon for a car with 50k. The website says it has the remainder of the CPO but didn't say how much time remains.

What's the experience with the 997 as the mileage hits the 50k range? Run or take a closer look?

Thanks, Don

I would have to think that with no IMS issues to deal with in the 2009-2013 Carreras, as the engine design changed to one with no IMS, these would have be a pretty rock solid vehicle. I had a 2006 C4S with 42,000 Km and I would consider it a great P car even with the IMS. So one without is even better! Plus CPO...go for it!

Pics?

Cheers!

At 50k miles, it is barely broken in. As long as service is up to date, you can expect another 100k miles on such a car.

I would consider how many miles per year you expect to drive and how long you typically keep your cars. The car you are considering is deeply discounted by the dealer because it is a high mileage car. 50 k at 2 yrs old is high miles.50k at 10 yrs old is low mileage. If you don,t add a ton of miles and sell it in 2 or 3 years it will trade in closer to an average mileage car. If you add another 50K mi in the same 2 or 3 yrs you will have a VERY high mi. car to trade and will take a beating. The car itself is rock solid and 50 k mechanically isn,t the issue .
