Torque/Tightening Specs

I’m frustrated in my efforts to source easily discernable torque specs for my 996 C4S. I’ve found them in a table format (i.e., without an accompanying illustration) in my CD of the Factory Shop Manual, but the difficulty is in translating the written description of the part that the bolt attaches to an illustration that employs the same wording. A typical listing reads:
“Control arm on side member M12 x 1.5 120 (89)”
But forming a mental picture of exactly what that “Control arm on side member” looks like as I’m under the car is challenging. I’ve attached a page from a Toyota shop manual which illustrates the assembly, and has the tightening specs of each threaded fastener shown alongside it. Is there any document (possibly the Bentley Manual) that provides the 996 torque specs in a similar fashion?
Thanks.

Translation: M12 x 1.5 120 (89)” = M12X 1.5 is the metric fastener size; 120 (89) it the torque specs for the fastener, 120Nm or 89 ft. lb. (there is a key printed in the lower left hand corner of the page you posted). You will find this type of listing common in most service manuals.

Thanks, John, but I understand all of that. What I'm looking for is a similarly illustrated presentation of the torque specs for the 996.

Bentley or a used OEM manual set.

You will not find a similarly illustrated presentation of the torque specs in either the Porsche Workshop Manuals or the Bentley Manual.

Sorry, but it is what it is. I use AlldataDIY.com. They have the factory service manuals online and that's about as good as it gets. The downloadable bootleg version available at many places is only for the 996.1 3.4, it doesn't cover the 3.6. The Bentley manual is very thorough and a fantastic companion to the factory manuals. Also the new release 101 Projects for the 996 is outstanding for what it covers.

If you will be doing a lot of diy for your 996 you should definitely buy the two books and check out a subscription to Alldata.
